Our trip to Hico Texas April 8th,9th,10th and arriving on the afternoon of the 11th.  I can say it was a very long, very long ugly trip.  We stayed in Benson , AZ the 1st night at a KOA, it was quiet and nice and actually no kids, being Spring Break time.  The next day we were off and ended up staying in a Rest Stop just past Fabens, TX.  So far we had driven from Hemet, CA, thru AZ, thru New Mexico and now in Texas.  John was too tired to drive any further and he was really ok when 2 beautiful Prevost Coaches drove in and parked right next to us.  They were coming from Indio and going to Tennessee for a Rally.  They also have a place in Canada that they go stay in the Summer.  They said they stay at Rest Stops all the time because of the size of their rigs.  Well all I can say it must be more quiet in their coaches than our trailer.  The trucks do turn off their motors in the Rest Stops which is nice but the rest stops are right next to the highway. I am not going to talk about the 3rd night at a Pilots station with the semis and their motors running, we left around a 11pm because it was hot and couldn't breathe, We found another rest stop about 1/2 hr. down the road.

Fabens rest stop. These show the rest stop is full, had no idea so many people stay all night.  There were little cars with people sleeping. The 3rd pic shows what the lovely country was on 10

These are  pictures of E Bar S Ranch we are staying at with our RV.  He has RV spaces for rent, full hookups and even laundry facilities.  It sits on 360 acres plus he leases 2000 more acres.  His son breaks horses, they have a haying business, board horses.  They have ducks and Canadian geese that roam free during the day.  We are up on a hill and I just walked around and took pictures from where we are parked.  It use to be an old dairy.

Now over to Dougs place which is right across the street.  We just ride our ebikes over there.  This is a lot more handy than staying in Hico and driving out each day.  1st pic is of Dougs place riding our bikes down the driveway over to his place.  He has a beautiful covered arena and stalls.           Some pics walking around the arena of Dougs place   may take my book over and sit in the swing under the tree   The country road we cross to go over to Dougs looking  both ways

I have a feeling that we came in the most beautiful time of the year.  Come this summer it won't be such nice weather and probably not green.  We stopped on our way about 1 hour from here to have lunch at a little local cafe in DeLeon, TX.  When we walked in and a big guy sitting at a table said Hi to us as we walked by.  Then some Tx police walked out and stopped and said Hi to us. Very friendly people.  I ordered water with lemon and took a drink and about died.  The guy behind us said its ok the Lake has turned over.  It happens once a year and then things settle back down.  It had been thru a filtration plant and still tasted bad.  When we walked out you could smell it in the air.  We laughed about it for quite a while.
