SCE Ponderosa LZ in our meadow.  10-26-20

Well just when we thought that things would start getting back to normal , SCE called and wanted to set up a LZ zone (landing zone) in our meadow and put 500 poles in the meadow and a helicopter would fly in an pick up the poles to replace the ones that burned.  By having 1 copter in Camp Nelson and 1 up here they can get our power back on.  So here are some pictures of the operation.  They will be here until December if the weather holds.  Took some pictures of the before the fun started.

Planning where everything will go.

2 things need to be done before they start.  1st, we need to widen the drive and make it a straight shot down to the meadow.  We had to take out 4 trees and part of my mound with MY FLOWERS!!!!!  No comment.....

While they were trying to cut the trees down and the backhoe was down pulling out stumps by the meadow , Lowes shows up with our new refrigerator for the Cabin and take away an old refrigerator and also a freezer.  Never a dull moment.         Meanwhile back at the trees.

 All ready for the trucks

Joe the backhoe guy tried to get the stumps out with this back hoe but it just wasn't big enough so the next day he brought a bigger one.       Now this was more like it.                                While Joe was trying to get the stumps out and make a road for the trucks to get down to the meadow they were lined up 8 deep waiting to get started.  And then it begins      They bring in the poles and then there are 2 crews that put the hardware on the poles an gets them ready for the helicopter to pick up. Quite a process               Dump truck full of the stumps.  And Joe is waiting to finish the road with gravel.

Finally at the end of the day the water truck shows up, just a little late.......

Day 4, 10-29-20 and the fun continues.  They brought in 2 roll offs, 1 for metal and 1 for wood.    Then we hear a helicopter and thought he was bringing in a compressor but it turned out to be a fuel tank.  They fill up one of their pick ups while he circled from above and then came back over the fuel tank and they hooked it up and he flew away.  So COOOOOL!                          They brought in more poles and the guys started putting the hardware on for tomorrow, they are supposed to start taking poles out by helicopter.  They are having problems and the holes have to be done by hand and they are in rock and it is slow going.                    More rock, looking good.
